Tore Wadstein

"I never thought it would be that straightforward."

Tore is a truly dedicated golfer. Not only is he out on the course shooting low scores, he has also been active behind the scenes, including a period as chairman of the board of Sweden's largest golf club. When winter prevents golfers in Sweden from playing outdoors, Tore and his friends can be found indoors on the golf simulator.

The problems leading to Tore’s decision to opt for dental implants started in the 1980s. Two teeth in his right upper jaw were loose and his dentist couldn’t tell him why. Fortunately, Tore had a good friend who was a dentist and he taught Tore how to take better care of his teeth. With the help of his friend Tore could stop the two teeth from falling out. In 1995, however, he developed endocarditis, a bacterial condition which mainly affects the heart valves. It is not unusual to find that a patient with endocarditis has an underlying tooth infection. The teeth that had troubled him before, were infected. The teeth had to be extracted and Tore was given a conventional dental bridge.

Tore had the bridge for about 12 years and was actually quite happy with it. One evening, however, he was eating spareribs when the root to which the bridge was attached cracked. There was no chance of getting the bridge back into place. After he heard about dental implants as a choice of treatment the decision was easy. He said yes immediately to two new Astra Tech implants and in January 2008 they were in place.

"I never thought it would be that straightforward. I'm very satisfied with both the function and look of my new teeth. And spareribs are not a problem anymore."
